Today, Wayne Clingman, the producer of the film Milwaukkee Mafia – Frank Balistrieri, The Longest Running Mob Boss in Milwaukee’s History, announced that the book, Frank Balistrieri, A look at “The Last Godfather of the Milwaukee Mafia” is about done and being offered for pre-sale to those fans of mafia history, Milwaukee, and/or The Outfit, who will want to own it for their own collections.
This book, by myself and co-writer Zack Long, is based on over 1000 pages of documents received from a Freedom of Information Act request, along with newspaper stories from The New York Times, The Milwaukee Journal and others. Mr. Clingman said, “I had no idea that when I started to produce my film, Milwaukee Mafia, that doing so would lead to a book. Yet once I received the FOIA return, I knew I had to continue to tell Frank Balistrieri’s story. Frank was, even if many would like not to admit it, a major part in the history of not only Milwaukee but Las Vegas and the role of the American Mafia at large.
Mr. Clingman continued,”The best part was working with a great writer, Mr Zack Long.”
Mr. Long spoke on the project, “It has been a lot of fun working with Wayne to turn Balistrieri’s story into a book. It is downright shocking just how much violence can orbit a single life.”
The ebook can be purchased via pre-sale for $5. Buyers will also receive a Chicago Outfit Blood on the Street sticker along with their purchase.
The sale of the ebook on Amazon will begin in mid-June for $3.95;

Took some time to reflect, plan,, and find alibis. Thought the crowd funder do better then it did. Taking the time to understand why not had me do some soul searching on why not and steps to take.
What I leaned
There are lot of projects looking to get money one needs to stand out to attract interest , the project I had did not
Branding issues, Chicago Outfit Blood in the Streets pushing the Milwaukee Mob confused others, who did not understand how the Outfit was over Milwaukee so being confused did not care
No push at the beginning, should had had between 5-7 ready to go in buying from the list of perks from what I understand a very standard kick off event for many crowd funding efforts a BIG mistake on my part.
Fan base age, what was a big shocker is seeing no traction I had others look at my Indie Go Go project to see what was wrong with it if anything. Shock came when one of then a young man of about 25 who likes Mob shows said that he had no idea of what the word surveillance met… That was wild is the population becoming that dumb ?
Even with over 250,000 to have seen the tweets on the project less then 1% took the time to see the information, speaks to the idea that most rather see a rerun of Casino or Good Fellows then a documentary I get that with so many just being very very slow and uninteresting.
Again learned a lot paid attention to what I was being told taking that into mind as we plan other ideas
Well the results are in the fans have spoken, there is 0 backing for either Milwaukee Mob Editors Cut or Milwaukee Mob Frank Goes to Vegas, with so little backing on the Indie Go Go tells me that to go ahead with either project at this time would be a mistake.
Even after being on a popular Popular Podcast “Uncle Frank’s Place”, a Statewide Radio Show out of Janesville WI, a few free ads given to us by our pals on the Web and well over 150,000 reached on Twitter there no interest. The numbers tell us that less then 20 saw the Indie Go Go page.
We could debate the why, that’s just crying in my beer, instead after talking with others , going to doing a Live Action Web series and using Machinima for another. Many actors from an earlier projects will be uses (some in both)
We will be using not only fan based low cost bling backing (T Shirts and stickers) as well Ad Sales to fund the efforts.
We do what we do we drive on
Milwaukee Mob Film Makers Announce Fund Raising Effort
Racine documentary film makers Wayne Clingman and Jason Love announce the crown sourcing effort to fund upcoming Mafia documentaries on the Mafia in Milwaukee Wi.
As Mr. Clingman explained ” We turn to the fans of our first documentary, The Milwaukee Mob, to help fund our next projects, The Milwaukee Mob the Editor’s Cut and Milwaukee Mob II Frank Goes to Vegas, to get the backing of the fans going forward. We will find out if the over 80,000 viewers, on You Tube and Amazon Prime, of our first film; trust us to continue to tell the Story. The adventurers of Frank Balistrieri, how he helped to bring the investments from the Teamster’s Central States Pension Fund to some of the Casinos in Las Vegas. By engaging in the making of the films, on the Indie Go Go page Link here https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/chicago-outfit-blood-in-the-streets/x/75891#/ our fans can act to help fund the film from a range of actions such as a Twitter Shout Out, buying digital copies of the films or being part of an elite group to have a Sit down over Pizza as Gavin Schmitt, author of Milwaukee Mafia, tells more stories of the Milwaukee Mob and Vegas.
As Wayne went on to say ” The best thing is there is no risk, if the set amount is not raised no one is charged! How can you beat that? ”
For More information contact Mr. Clingman at email@example.com
My thought is that anyone who has been to Las Vegas needs to thank Frank Balistrieri, for without his efforts to bring millions of dollars from the Central State Teamster’s Pension Fund to invest, yes invest for my understanding is that the fund’s investments were profitable in returning a profit to the Pension Fund during the time frame of Mr. Ballistrieri , this investment allowed Casino’s such as The Fremont and The Stardust to exist.
Yes we know that the Mob was in Vegas long before Frank came in, A shame he has not gotten the credit I believe he is due with the creation of the Vegas, we know today.
Interesting to note that in 1976 the fund had about 249. Million investing in Casinos, getting interest on those loans, in the years to come after the Skim was discovered, the Mob kicked out.
The years of Junk Bonds used to finance deals in Vegas that would not be the case, for investors being taken for a ride.
To think that the Mob would help retired Americans with good investments is well, crazy, but perhaps true
The first steps in the pre-production will be a fundraiser on the Indie-Go-Go platform to obtain the money needed to insure the rights needed, pay talent and crew, the numbers are being hammered out but look to be around $6500-7000 USD.
We will be offering the typical perks such as Stickers-T Shirts- digital copies of the film (s), will also be offering an invitation only gathering to hear stories not in the film but would be of great interest to those interested in the topic by the Wisconsin crime author Gavin Schmitt, who was also part of the first Milwaukee Mob film and be helping us on Milwaukee Mob Part Two Frank Goes to Vegas.
Plan is to offer a low end way for someone to help by donating less then $25.00 to the die hard fan base to eat Pizza and talk Milwaukee Mob with one of the best writers in the field today, Mr. Schmitt.
This would insure a great product that the fans on the story of The Mafia in Milwaukee will want to hear will be created.
The film (s) will be placed on Amazon Prime as well as at least two Roku Channels. This will insure maximum exposure to our fan base.
The link to the Fundraiser will be of course posted here and the Twitter and Facebook Page
” No plan survives contact with the enemy. ” Helmuth von Moltke the Elder
“So this is the plan for the production film. ” Wayne Clingman
All joking aside we have a plan for the production of the films , late this week should see the launch of the Indie Go Go this is to gather needed funds to pay for the costs of creating the films, from obtaining B-Roll, Stock Footage and obtaining the Freedom of Information Act requests with The FBI and DEA, we may also start the process to get records from The State of Nevada Gaming Control Board. The last part I have tried before and lets just say wow… .
The Milwaukee Mob Editors Cut will be the easiest to get done with only content to add we may want to bring Gavin Schmidt Author of The Milwaukee Mob to add some background to the tale of Milwaukee Phil.
The Milwaukee Mob II Frank Balistrieri Goes to Vegas will take longer to get out the door since information we plan on obtaining with the FOIA to the above groups will be needed. but by the time the Editor’s cut is done we should have it.
We can do a lot of the filming during the time we are waiting for the records so it will not be like we are sitting on our hands.
Both “Should be done around 3/2019. Subject to contact …
Why do I make Documentaries?
Easy, there are many very interesting stories about the Mafia/Mob that should be told many of them from the S.E. Wisconsin, North East Illinois area.
One of the major players in this is of course Frank Balistrieri even with “The Outfit” having control over what was going on in Milwaukee (and if there is a “Mafia” in Milwaukee its run out of Chicago.) Frank B was far more powerful helping IMHO the Outfit/Kansas City more into the Casinos via the Teamsters pension fund loans.
He deserves more then a few paragraphs in books or stories posted on line. The least I can do is make a few documentaries on him.
I hope I can count on you in to help make this happen.
What motivated me to write this post was I picked up the book The Dark Heat of Hollywood by Douglas Thompson, from my local library and well, in a few works it sucks, from repeating what I see as BS stories to as I read some of the pages almost taking lines by lines from other books, it is what it is and perhaps I should write books right ? Funny I know better I am a poor writer but I can put together a team of Film Makers.
We need more truthful work done on what I see at least a part of major American history.
